Manhattan: mouse brains, sugar bar

snousleWork today was pretty interesting. Learned more about mouse neuroanatomy than I had ever expected to. The "perfusion" of the dead mice was particularly Kafkaesque - lots of tubing, whirling machines, mousie corpses everywhere. There aren't all that many mice involved, but it sure is graphic.
Had dinner with the boss at a decent French restaurant, Bistro 61, and later headed out for a nearby bar - Townhouse - which is explicitly a "sugar daddy" bar. The web page was so intimidating I wasn't sure if I would even get in. But I ended up having a very nice time even though it is exactly opposite to my usual tastes. The decor was exquisite, unlike any bar i've bben in before. A sudden wave of warmth and humidity tonight had me sweating like a pig, and for once I felt anxious about the fact that I more or less stank. Couple of glasses of brandy fixed that problem, at least in my own mind. ;-)
Really liking this town. Hard to believe it's even real, it's so huge and crazy. I thought the legendary emotiveness of the residents would drive me nuts but in practice it's actually quite charming.
