Guh, well at least it should be an educational experience.

An innocent call to Travelodge to confirm a reservation, and I got suckered with a promise of a $40 room discount to join some rewards program called "Travel Advantage". I have a really bad feeling about this. Supposedly I can get my $40 off, and then cancel so as to never pay the $16 monthly fee. Yeah, I bet that's going to be real easy. [fist banging forehead] It's already not worth the discount just thinking about how this is likely to unfold. I IS SO DUM.

Embracing Idleness

I should have been a real economist - I am too readily drawn to speculation outside the range of my expertise, and cannot resist sharing it. Reading journal articles and economics blogs is educational, but also in some sense frustrating, since those with a solid background in the subject have access to models and modes of thinking that I just don't know enough about.

( But does that stop me from pontificating? No it does not. )
