Hm, interesting, when I tried that a while back I got disagreeable results, and now I get agreeable results. Not sure exactly what went wrong earlier but one of my concerns was that the URL did not seem persistent and would tend to stop working at some point in the future. Maybe that's no longer the case.

Earlier, I was making "albums" by resizing all the photos, moving them to a Dropbox folder, and running a simple script that turned a directory listing into a set of img src tags. That was a bit tedious but at least it was done "in bulk", while having to copy individual URLs from Google is less agreeable in that sense. I think I will probably end up hosting albums at G+ and just calling out a few individual photos here.

I am wondering how much data is "really" being downloaded by viewers when I embed a G+ hosted photo here... it does seem that somewhere along the line from my hard disk to a Picasa album to G+ to LJ it is magically getting scaled from about 3MB in the original file to about 280 KB once it appears in an LJ post. Not sure where that is happening!

Thanks for the tip, anyway. I'm going to post a test photo to see how it looks to others.
