Cowboy's Handkerchief
Dec. 4th, 2009 09:36 amThere have been a lot of mushrooms coming up lately. John regularly brings back new species from his walks with Kitsune, and yesterday he found this: the "Cowboy's Handkerchief":

I had seen this in the book, but not read the entry, and had always assumed that it was so named because of the wavy shape of it's cap when mature - like a piece of discarded cloth. But no: it is so named because it is incredibly, disgustingly slimy.
On actually touching one, all I can say is, that cowboy sure didn't use it to blow his nose.
