Magic Keywords
Jan. 3rd, 2010 07:38 amSo much depends on knowing the right keyword these days.
I have an old 800mm reflector telescope that I was interested in somehow coupling to my camera, and I have been searching all over the place for some sort of adapter ring. I went to a couple of camera shops and asked about it, with no luck whatsoever. (Not that a camera shop would actually hire, you know, a photographer or anything nowadays.)
Anyway, while reading about snowflake photography I stumbled across the term "T-mount". Aha! That immediately turned up all kinds of products that could solve the problem, most of which cost less than twenty dollars. All I lacked was the magic word.
I dunno, I have the hardest time finding things. I've also been looking for a small immersion heater that could help with kitchen cleanup by keeping a basin of wash water hot for long periods, but like the T-mount, it took nearly a year to track it down. John finally found one at a lab supply place. Isn't the Internet supposed to make this easy?
