So much depends on knowing the right keyword these days.

I have an old 800mm reflector telescope that I was interested in somehow coupling to my camera, and I have been searching all over the place for some sort of adapter ring. I went to a couple of camera shops and asked about it, with no luck whatsoever. (Not that a camera shop would actually hire, you know, a photographer or anything nowadays.)

Anyway, while reading about snowflake photography I stumbled across the term "T-mount". Aha! That immediately turned up all kinds of products that could solve the problem, most of which cost less than twenty dollars. All I lacked was the magic word.

I dunno, I have the hardest time finding things. I've also been looking for a small immersion heater that could help with kitchen cleanup by keeping a basin of wash water hot for long periods, but like the T-mount, it took nearly a year to track it down. John finally found one at a lab supply place. Isn't the Internet supposed to make this easy?

Oh? Do you use it for the same purpose, or something else? I'd be very interested to know the model and how well it works.

i have a Haake D8, a fairly old unit, but it still works well. the only issue i have with it is that it overheats and shuts off if i start the machine with hot water instead of starting with cold and letting it raise the temp. not a big deal, just lengthens the preheating process.
i use it for sous vide cookery.

I remember you had a similar obstacle when you were looking all over for a wiring tool for your motorcycle; I provided the magic phrase ("terminal extractor pick") and suddenly there were scads of them within easy reach. It's not just you — search engines are getting better, but they still aren't as good as a knowledgeable human. I wonder if this difficulty is less when one is speaking (and searching in) German rather than English.

Magic Keywords tells it all!

Yepper soon search engines will have the AI equivalent of English majors.

But I am still so impressed that when you get it right the net gives you what you want at the speed of light.
