Intense day in the lab. Looking forward to returning home.

Highlight of the day is dinner alone at Kingswood, in the village, where I am right now. I like dining alone so much, the only downside is that I can't really share the experience. LOL. Food is incredible, but WAY too salty. Makes me a little queasy.

A quiet life in the woods, punctuated by short, expensive, yet highly profitable junkets like this, is my dream lifestyle. Very happy to have arrived.

Now, off to the Eagle.

Update: Gah, the Eagle didn't open till 10 and it's EMPTY. Shoulda stayed in the village. Oh well, real early start tomorrow. Had an interesting walk along the Hudson, though. I wonder if these were the docks that were so cruisy and hot 40 years ago?

In the 90s, I did a lot flying back and forth to New York City for my work on Wall Street. I never did get used to the city and was always happy to get back home to the yurt. I met up will a number of guys here through Bros Magazine. Had some great times in the evenings after work. I'd suggest some people to visit, but I've lost contact with them all.

Good to read that you are having a better stay in New York than you thought you would. I'm not surprised that the Eagle was empty, as I recalled that people tended to go to certain bars on certain nights.

I don't think that any of the docks that were so cruisy 40 years ago even begin to resemble what they used to be (if they are even still there). The nearby meatpacking district - also completely changed.

But I still LOVE New York. Even though Willits is where I like to be, now, sometimes "New York is where I'd rather be," to quote Lisa Douglas!

According to legend, the docks on the Hudson were a virtual 1980's Ringold Alley scene in the 1960's. It's discussed in s the biographical portrait of NYC filmmaker Jack Smith.

It's the curse of the 4 am closing time in New York: nothing gets going until quite a few people (like me) would prefer to be on their way to bed.

This is one thing that I love about San Francisco - bar events here start EARLY! :)
