the 'flat rose' may be a "dog rose" ...

Are you sure that is a rose? The Wikipedia page for dog rose shows a rather different plant.

oh, two separate ideas, both ringed flat flowers. The first may be a dog rose (at first, I thought rose hips blossom); and the second, the picture I posted, I don't know (it was just on my mind because I was looking for info on the Valley of Fire online, a day ago, and I thought of it here).
