Very interesting wikipedia article:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_common_misconceptions

A few of them surprised me a bit. Could be useful for getting the loud smartasses who go around proclaiming such things to shut the fuck up.

Yes an interesting bit of information. But what I wonder is what brought you to it?

I arrived from this data visualization illustrating trends in discussions concerning the deletion of Wikipedia articles. This was among the articles rendered, and on seeing it in the diagram, I checked it out.

It didn't list the common belief that I am dead. Which of course, is false. At least I think it's false....

'Shaving does not cause terminal hair to grow back thicker or coarser or darker.'

I got that a LOT as a 17 year old growing a beard...sorry I knew it was utter bullshit then. Only few times I've shaved off my beard ever it's never grown back thicker.

Whereas: exposure to cold does seem to encourage hair growth, or at least not wearing clothes next to it which don't trap or rub the skin/hair. When I started wearing shorts almost 365 days of the year my legs did get furrier. That makes more sense...

oh and I was taught about the sweet/sour zones of the tongue in SCHOOL.

Just furthering the belief that 99% of what I was taught in school was utter utter bullshit.

"Marie Antoinette was a very unpopular ruler and many people therefore attribute the phrase "let them eat cake" to her, in keeping with her reputation as being hard-hearted and disconnected from her subjects."
That Viennese tart wasn't a ruler; she was merely the consort of Louis XVI.
