Quoted on Marginal Revolution:

"One striking difference is that the iconic conservative works are about ideology. By contrast, the most influential liberal books of the era are about policy issues... Conservatives have big appetites for ideology; liberals don’t. There are, of course, taxonomies of conservative schools of thought. People on the right classify themselves as libertarians, neoconservatives, social conservatives, traditional conservatives, and the like, and spill oceans of ink defining, debating, and further subdividing these schools of thought. There is no parallel taxonomy on the left."

I had noticed that before, Liberals are Liberals with some more radical than others, but Conservatives have a wide range, kinda like Christians - If you don't subscribe to this or that way of thinking, you're not a true conservative, or christian.

There certainly is such a taxonomy on the far left, which gets into the same kind of squabbles about ideological purity as the Conservative. I guess the author just wants to say that this simply hasn't gone as mainstream in the Liberal community as it has among Conservatives, and in doing so overstating their case.
