Those Darned Conservatives
Dec. 13th, 2011 07:49 amThey just lurv them family values:
Anti-Gay Alabama GOPer Secretly Donated Sperm To Lesbian Couples In New Zealand
Without his wife's knowledge, by the way.
Could you imagine being a pregnant lesbian and discovering the father of your child was an anti-gay Republican? I'd be at the abortion clinic before you could say "alien impregnation".

It's like a Christian posing as a Muslim or a Jew and impregnating a mother, in an attempt to further his own hateful brand of religion.

Date: 2011-12-14 04:13 pm (UTC)I keep saying that the gay community should be more anti-abortion than the most right-wing conservatives out there.
Because who do you think are going to be the first ones aborted when they find the gay gene?

Date: 2011-12-14 05:24 pm (UTC)We don't really know the details of the story so I'm launching into a hypothetical, but a non-anonymous sperm donation made while concealing major, relevant aspects of the father's life - such as his existing marriage, and his record anti-gay political action - is really quite disgusting and if I were such a woman this would be a 100x larger issue for me. Maybe there's a sociopath gene, too, and he's spreading it. Not something I would want to have any part in. FWIW the situation would not be changed if he were simply a philanderer, the artificial insemination angle just makes it more lurid.
There are lots of permutations but the key issue would be deliberate deceit on the part of the father. I don't think revenge is good motivation for abortion but it would still be a fitting end for his vile scheme.
The gay-gene thing might indeed come to pass and might be as big a problem as sex-selective abortion. But neither of these are nearly as big a an issue, IMHO, as the autonomy of women and their right to control their own bodies.
I doubt I have anything to say on the issue you haven't heard a hundred times before. For obvious reasons it's not a major issue in my life but my values lead to a fairly strong conclusion nonetheless.
