snousleEverything is so much more entertaining when there's nothing to do.
Anyway, my neighbor's young son was running around with a roman candle, so his dad took it from him to demonstrate how they work (and how to set it off safely.)
After some difficulty and a lot of arms-length Bic lighter action, the fuse starts going for real. Then the little missiles start flying out... hitting a big branch about 20 feet overhead, and bouncing right back at us!!!
One of his huge mastiffs snapped at one, and actually caught it. So for a minute she was DRAGON DOG --- sulfurous smoke pouring out of her mouth. I was sure she was going to freak out, but she acted as if nothing was wrong. After a few moments she was, somehow, totally OK. Must have tasted awful though...
