Stop me before I shop again!
Feb. 17th, 2009 05:16 pmOh dear. I was going to buy some new bindings for my ailing snowboard when I made the mistake of going into the local board shop, where they have a good selection of some of the most eye popping rides I've ever seen. WANT:

Who doesn't want a big woody?
Besides, their brochure has a picture of a crusty, sunburned, mega-moustached surfer daddy munchkin dude that could sell me ANYTHING. The downside of being nobody's demographic is that on those rare occasions I am marketed to, I'm powerless to resist.
My current board is a good ten years old and been ridden so much that it's totally lost its camber. And the prices on new equipment are quite good right now. It might be the last board I buy for a long, long time. But dang, I really shouldn't be spending that kind of money right now!
Nevertheless, I think I shall. Snowboarding is a terrible money pit but I really would like to get out a few times a year. And I got a brand new pair of boots for free that fit perfectly. Maybe I'll find some sort of economical shuttle service to the Sierra, or visit my mother in Vancouver this spring. Or maybe we'll get a good snowfall on the ranch. ;-)

Date: 2009-02-18 05:02 am (UTC)What are toecaps?
BTW I'm looking at maybe a March / April trip up to Vancouver. Interested in riding together at Cypress and/or Whistler? Any particular times that are generally better or worse?

I work 830-430 M-F, but weekends are good for Whistler and evenings for Cypress. Will you be vehicular? I don't have a car and rely on friends. But sounds fun!
