Manhattan, here I come!

snousleI'm about to make my very first trip to New York since I was a child. If any of you out there have any Fabulous Ideas that include an offer of overnight accommodation, I could arrange to be at loose ends the afternoon and evening of Tuesday the 23rd and maybe also the 24th. It needs to be all set up by Monday morning.
I'll be staying the nights of the 21st and the 22nd at an unspecified hotel near Rockerfeller University, where I will be consulting. Also, I'm looking for suggestions for a good place near there to have dinner with colleagues Monday night.
Manhattan terrifies me and I have no idea of what to expect. Fortunately, transportation is being arranged on my behalf, so at least I won't have to worry about driving.
