Just got home a few hours ago. It was a very good day for wildflower photography, I was running all over the Siskiyou along highway 199 taking snapshots. Most of these are still awaiting identification, please feel free to chime in.

This one is the flower of a Darlingtonia, a kind of carnivorous pitcher plant:

The top one is rather furry.

I approve.

But when it happens to the sexual organs of plants, one has reason to be particularly grateful.

If the Darlingtonia could speak, it would have the accent of Droopy Dog...

#3 looks like the flower stalk of soap plant, aka Chlorogalum ... but I could be wrong about that.

Nice pics, T.
I don't suppose you could be persuaded to include a photo of the bogfull of D. californica, hmm? Surely that would be impressive to see. :-P

Alas, at this time of year they are unpretty:

The flower (which also seems rather old) was taken at the Eight Dollar Mountain botanical boardwalk, where the foliage was almost completely decayed. This photo was taken at the "botanical trail" on the California side where there were very few flowers. I'm not sure when they're actually green.

Still, very interesting. I HAD assumed the new foliage would be well on its way by now, but what with our cold Spring......

Thanks! Great to see these.
